Terms of Service.
Last updated: April 17, 2026 · Effective immediately for all users.
1. What this is
CloudCook ("the Service") is a web application that helps you plan meals, track your pantry, and get AI-assisted cooking suggestions. It's operated by Jason Toubia ("we", "us", "our") as an individual, during a public beta.
2. Accounts
You need an account to use the app. You're responsible for keeping your password confidential. You must be at least 13 years old; if you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. Deletion removes your tenant database (recipes, inventory, meal plans, dietary rules) and your identity record. Some AI-usage audit logs are retained for billing integrity and aggregated operational metrics — these contain no personal content, only token counts and timestamps.
3. Acceptable use
Don't use CloudCook to:
- Break laws where you live or where the service operates.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the AI features (including by prompting around dietary safety rules to extract content that harms people with allergies).
- Sign up for someone else without their consent.
- Harass other users or the operator.
4. AI output
CloudCook uses third-party AI (currently Anthropic's Claude) to generate recipes, meal plans, and substitution suggestions. AI output can be wrong. Always use your own judgment around food safety, allergies, and nutrition. If you have a medical or dietary condition, talk to a qualified professional, not the app.
Dietary rules (your "hard rules") are enforced three ways — schema constraint, AI system prompt, and post-response substring guard — but no enforcement is perfect. You remain responsible for the food you cook.
5. Your content, your data
Recipes you create or import, your inventory, your meal plans, your ratings, and your dietary preferences remain yours. CloudCook's license to use them is limited to what's needed to provide the service to you. We don't sell it, don't use it to train AI models, and don't share it with third parties except:
- Anthropic, which processes your AI queries per their own terms. Anthropic does not train on API traffic.
- Resend (email provider), which delivers password-reset and notification emails when you request them.
- Fly.io (hosting), which stores your tenant database on an encrypted volume.
- Law enforcement, only if legally compelled and only the minimum required.
6. Beta status
CloudCook is in beta. That means:
- The service is free.
- Features may change or disappear without notice.
- Data loss is unlikely but possible — export a backup periodically from the Settings or Account page.
- Uptime is best-effort, not guaranteed.
7. Payment & pricing
During beta, CloudCook is free. If paid tiers launch later, we'll give existing users notice before any new charge applies, and you'll always be able to cancel and export your data.
8. Termination
You can stop using CloudCook any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that are inactive for long periods. Before deletion for inactivity, we'll send a warning to the email on file.
9. Disclaimer & liability
The service is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We're not liable for incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the service — including bad dinners. Use of the AI features is at your own culinary risk.
10. Changes
We'll update these terms as the product matures. Material changes will be announced by email to the address on file. Continuing to use CloudCook after a change means you accept the updated terms.
